21 Days of Hunger: Day 1

One of the main goals of this fast is to be able to hear the voice of the Lord. The key will be to turn the volume down on the rest of my life so that I can hear His voice clearly. The Jews were confused because they didn’t understand what Jesus was about. In verse 24, they blamed Jesus for their own confusion. “How long do you keep us in doubt? If You are the Christ, tell us plainly.” Let me reiterate that again. They BLAMED Jesus for their own confusion. If I can be honest...that sounds very familiar to me. I have blamed Jesus numerous times for my own confusion. Jesus, however, is not the focus of blame for our confusion. In fact, Jesus was pretty straight forward with who he was, and what his purpose on earth was. Jesus responded, “I told you, and you do not believe.”
How often does God speak to us…but we just don’t believe? Our struggle is real. We doubt the voice of God. We doubt the intentions of God. We doubt the commands of God, and yet we still demand that He show us His supernatural power. Jesus stated it plainly. “You do not believe because you are not of My sheep. My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” (verse 26 and 27). For the next 21 days…let the focus of our journey be on getting to know our Shepherd.
Questions: 1. In this time of fasting, what is your mind tuned to? 2. What distractions do you need to remove so that you can focus on God?
